A virtual happy hour is an easy way to bring together your friends and family to celebrate your community and to discuss the importance of abortion access in Washington and across the U.S. We are in a uniquely difficult moment in abortion rights history, and we need our communities more than ever.
It is only through ongoing discussions in safe spaces, combined with joy and community, that we are able to make change and challenge the abortion stigma causing real harm in our country.
Today is the day to raise your voice, support Pro-Choice Washington, and make a difference for and with your friends and family.
Steps for Success
Step 1: Decide to host a happy hour
When you do, we can support with fact sheets, signs, games, playlists, and other materials to make the party fun and easy. Reach out to info@prochoicewashington.org to start!
Step 2: Pick a date
Spring is a great time to host a party so that it can support candidates and elected officials throughout the summer. However, we welcome your support at any time of the year!
Step 3: Build your guest list
Make a list of friends, family, and neighbors. Consider folks from work, the gym, or school.
Step 4: Decide on a virtual platform
There are several platforms on which to host your virtual happy hour event:
Step 5: Send your invitations

- Create a Facebook event
- Call, text, or email the event link
- Ask your friends to invite their networks Post flyers or drop invites at local shops.
Step 6: Build your event agenda
It’s best to plan for about one hour! This gives people time to engage and participate, but does not burn folks out online. If you share your story, plan your speaking segment for 5-10 minutes, and use the rest of the time for a lively discussion.

As you might know, I care deeply about reproductive freedom and am a dedicated member of Pro-Choice Washington.
I would love for you to help me celebrate the important advancements we have made for abortion access in Washington!
It is also a critical moment for abortion rights across the country, with the recent passage of Texas Senate Bill 8 and the upcoming Supreme Court hearing of Dobbs v. Jackson that is poised to overturn Roe.
