Regional Organizing Coordinator
Sofie Coleman has a deep commitment to advocating for accessible, equitable, and comprehensive reproductive healthcare. Born and raised on Bainbridge Island, Sofie first gained experience in community organizing when she founded and led the grassroots activist organization Let’s Talk: Women Against Sexual Assault with a small group of peers. Advocating for community education and resources for survivors of sexual violence, they organized events, fundraised, and met with representatives from the local school board and law enforcement– leading to an updated sex education curriculum and more comprehensive training for police handling of sexual assault cases.
In 2022, Sofie joined the Bellingham organization Whatcom Family & Community Network as the program coordinator for the Youth Suicide Prevention program, as well as the developer and facilitator of the Trusted Adult Workshop program. In this role, she provided comprehensive community education around suicide prevention and mental wellbeing, and prioritized fostering self-advocacy and leadership skills in youth through opportunities for activism and community involvement.
Alongside her work in community organizing, Sofie enjoys picking up new creative skills and hobbies, reading, watching movies, listening to music, and spending time with her partner, Jessica and cat, Myshka. She is eager to utilize her passion for protecting and expanding access to abortion care by joining the Pro-Choice Washington Team.
