Today marks the start of Trans Awareness Week, a time to honor trans lives and recommit to building a world where everyone has the right to control their body, their identity, and their future.
At Pro-Choice Washington, we know that reproductive freedom and trans liberation are inextricably linked.
Each of these fights come down to the same principle: every person deserves the freedom to make their own choices about their body and their health care.
Right now, those freedoms are under threat in our state of Washington. Paid signature gatherers are asking voters to sign two harmful initiatives.
One will repeal The Safety Act and roll back a key student privacy law. The second is a trans youth sports ban that would force all girls who want to play on a team to undergo invasive physical and medical examinations.
Here’s why we’re concerned: These initiatives threaten the safety, privacy, and dignity of not only trans and LGBTQ+ school-aged kids, but all Washington students.
To fight back against these harmful measures, you can pledge to decline to sign with our coalition partners at Washington Families for Freedom.
This month our take five actions help trans-led organizations and movement building across the country. We hope you join us.
