NARAL Pro-Choice Washington asks Senator Ranker to Step Down
Seattle – “The allegations against Senator Ranker reported this week shine a light on the inherent power imbalances within our state legislature, which enable a culture of sexual harassment. We believe survivors and we stand with those who come forward despite the possibility of retaliation in their workplace and personal lives.
While we applaud the pursuit of an investigation through the State Senate’s updated investigation process, our elected leaders must be held to the highest standards. We call on Senator Ranker to step down from his position within the Washington State Legislature. Though we have worked with Senator Ranker to advance reproductive rights in Washington for many years, we recognize that Washington women deserve a zero tolerance policy towards sexual harassment in order to achieve gender equity in the workplace.”
