NARAL Pro-Choice Washington Statement in Response to Violence from Pro-Trump Insurrectionists in Washington, DC
Washington State — NARAL Pro-Choice Washington Executive Director, Kia Guarino released the following statement in response to pro-Trump insurrectionists storming the Capitol and waging violence:
“I have been glued to the news this afternoon, watching my old neighborhood overrun by an insurrection. Today’s direct attack on democracy is terrifying, but not surprising. The hypocrisy of elected leaders and law enforcement is gut-wrenching. The domestic terrorists who carried out today’s attempted coup were aided and abetted by Republicans who either directly fomented doubt in the election, or stayed silent in the face of endless, baseless claims. We stand strong in support of a fair and free election, where we came out in droves to support each other and the true ideals of democracy. Our work is not done, but the movement to protect our rights and humanity will prevail.”
