Media Relations & Research Intern

Available: Rolling admission
Reports to: Communications Specialist
Hours: 10-15 hrs/week (flexible)
Compensation: Unpaid


  • Develop and maintain tracking sheets of press coverage
  • Update press and media list
  • Draft press releases and send to Communications Specialist and Deputy Director for review
  • Write weekly news memos and send it out to all staff
  • Track news relevant to our mission and 
  • Assist in updating the news portion of our website and other website needs.
  • Develop relationships with our press contacts
  • Work on research projects to analyze Washington’s political landscape of pro-choice and anti-choice networks.

Qualified Candidates will have:

  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Strong time management skills 
  • Commitment to NARAL Pro-Choice Washington’s mission
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong editing skills
  • Experience with Google Sheets and Google Drive
  • An interest in learning about press and media relations
  • An ability to maintain confidentiality
  • The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Openness to learning and creating their own research project
