Knock knock knock!
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington seeks a positive and driven community organizer to join our Seattle based field canvass team.
This role is at the heart of NARAL’s on-the-ground organizing efforts. By interacting directly with Washingtonians on the issues that matter most to reproductive freedom, our canvass team is our organization’s secret weapon, bringing the people power to the abortion rights movement. This person will expand NARAL’s base and impact by recruiting new members through door-to-door canvassing and fundraising.
Working closely with a team of other canvassers, this person will be trained on tried-and-true methods of grassroots activism and leadership, getting an excellent introduction to career tracks in campaign work, nonprofit development, and community organizing. This canvasser will meet ordinary Washingtonians, hear their stories, educate them about NARAL’s mission, bring them into the movement, and report their findings back to the political and development teams to guide our organization on how to best serve our community. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate, scrappy, and willing to roll up their sleeves to do the most important work in the reproductive rights movement.
Who We Are
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is the leading pro-choice political advocacy organization in Washington State. We work to protect every Washingtonian’s right to access the full range of reproductive health options, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. Our work encompasses political advocacy, grassroots lobbying, and research & education. NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is the state affiliate of NARAL Pro-Choice America.
Under a federal administration that wages a war on healthcare access, our canvass team fights back by mobilizing voters door-to-door. We organize our neighbors to demand action that expands reproductive freedom in Washington State, pounding the pavement to bring voters into the NARAL network through grassroots fundraising and organizing that turns community members into activists. While it may seem like this fight is over in Washington, it’s no secret that federal protections for reproductive freedom have been rolled back at an unprecedented rate and anti-choice representatives in our own state have proposed insidious measures to limit basic bodily autonomy. Our work in the last fifteen months has been more necessary than ever and we’ve been showing up in key districts to harness grassroots energy where it is needed most. In the last year, our field team has successfully mobilized thousands of voters to resist budget cuts for family planning services, elect a pro-choice majority in our state legislature, and demanded transparency for fake, anti-choice pregnancy clinics around our state.
