We are excited to report that all three of our priority bills passed through the 2020 Washington State legislature— Comprehensive Mandatory Sex Education, Health Equity Assessment Fee and Protecting Patient Care. Yet, there is more work to be done.

With all that’s at stake, we need to make sure our rights and values stay at the forefront of the conversation in 2020.

BOARD OPPORTUNITIES NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is looking for individuals with finance, legal, or board experience. Each Board member is also expected to serve on one of our committees: Board Governance & Engagement, Finance, Anti-Racism, Fundraising & Events.

Structurally, we are three organizations with separate (yet overlapping) board membership and financial operations:

  • NARAL Pro-Choice Washington 501(c)(4)—a state affiliate of NARAL Pro-Choice America
  • NARAL Pro-Choice Washington Foundation 501(c)(3)
  • NARAL Pro-Choice Washington Political Action Committee (PAC)

The Finance Committee has members from all three boards and meets via zoom monthly (as does the PAC). The (c)(4) and (c)(3) Boards meet bi-monthly via zoom. Occasional in-person meetings may occur in the future.

A financial commitment is also expected. We believe that everybody should be able to make personal decisions about the full range of reproductive health options. We work every day to protect everybody’s right to access the full range of reproductive health options, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion.

NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is the leading grassroots pro-choice advocacy organization in Washington state with over 35,000 members statewide. How do you apply? Submit a letter of interest and resume to board@ no later than May 31, 2020.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received. A Board member will contact you for an initial discussion.

If you want to proceed, we’ll arrange a zoom meeting/ interview with other Board members to discuss your interest and background. We are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and creating a movement in which every individual is welcomed and valued. We strive to ensure our boards reflect the diversity of our state including across race, income, immigrant status and gender identity.
